Are Trapped Emotions Impacting Your Health?
Everything in the universe is energy, including thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I view feelings and emotions as energy in motion.
We all experience thousands of thoughts and emotions daily. The key is not whether we have emotions, but how we handle them. Can we fully process and release them, or do we suppress them?
Experiencing and processing emotions involves several steps. If disrupted, emotions can become trapped in the body. The longer an emotion is trapped, the more likely it is to cause mental, emotional, or physical pain or imbalance.
I believe trapped emotions contribute to most disease processes. Trapped emotions can:
Lower the immune system, making the body more vulnerable.
Distort body tissues
Block the flow of energy.
Prevent optimal organ and gland function.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), organs are linked with specific emotions. If overstimulated or overloaded, an organ is believed to produce those emotions more intensely. Once produced, an emotion can become trapped anywhere in the body if its experience is interrupted.
Trapped emotions often settle in stressed, weak, or injured body areas. For example, the vibration of anger from the liver might get stuck in the lower back if that area has structural issues.
Emotions can get trapped when we are vulnerable—due to a weak immune system, lack of sleep, overexertion, or feeling overwhelmed or “off.” Trapped emotions are:
Emotional energy that is stuck in the body
Roughly the size of a clenched fist
Able to expand and take up more space in the body when activated
Always present at a low level. They seem too big and overwhelming for the situation when triggered.
Understanding the steps in the emotional process is key to recognizing how and why emotions can become trapped.
Some sort of external or internal stimulus occurs.
A thought, either conscious or subconscious, is created.
The subconscious seeks relevant experiences for comparison.
The subconscious mind communicates with the body.
A specific organ or gland starts generating the frequency of a specific emotion.
The vibration is felt as a physical sensation in the body.
The vibration influences our thoughts, emotions, and behavior.
Ideally, emotion is processed and released. If it is too intense or we are vulnerable, the process is interrupted, and emotion becomes trapped.
Figuring out if we have trapped emotions and learning to release them are central to improving well-being. Various methods, including Emotion Code, Neuro-Emotional Technique, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Theta Healing, address this purpose in different ways.
These methods all use the subconscious mind, often employing muscle testing to identify trapped emotions, thoughts, or beliefs.
They tap into the body’s energy pathways, sometimes using meridians or acupressure points to help release stuck energy.
Most also incorporate prayer or intention into the process.
